What began in Auckland, New Zealand in 2001, with Melanie Bridge, Paul Prince, and Sharlene George starting a TV commercial production company from their bedroom offices, and Melanie as the only film director, has now grown into something far greater than we ever imagined.
Our name, The Sweetshop, came when we moved into our first building and discovered it had once been a sweetshop. The name stayed, not by chance, but because it captured exactly who we wanted to be: a place where crafted ‘goodies’ are made for clients, and a company rooted in kindness, integrity, and thoughtful creativity.
Today, The Sweetshop has flourished into a truly global film company, with 44 film directors and offices in Sydney, Bangkok, London, Los Angeles, and our flagship in Auckland, along with The Gardening.club, our AI division.
Through it all, our vision has never wavered: to be a home for the world’s most extraordinary storytellers and a company that brings together the very best talent across the globe. Our pursuit of excellence is unending, always pushing boundaries, always seeking better stories to tell.
