Perennial plants are the answer to restoring eco-systems and feeding people! We’re on a mission to list every edible perennial in an easy to search database

Ask a gardener to list some edible perennial plants – most will be able to list Asparagus & Rhubarb, and then – um…strawberries?

There’s a whole world of edible perennials, mostly ignored by modern agriculture but eaten & cultivated by indigenous people for millenia. If you want to read more about perennial plants have a look at our blog post – https://www.thegreendirectory.net/blog/the-benefits-of-perennial-species-in-dryland-farming

This database is a work in progress, if you have any suggestions of plants to add – drop us a comment in the box below and we’ll get them listed!

Mitsuba! It’s a perennial Japanese parsley substitute. (Not actually parsley, but related and nicknamed “Japanese wild parsley”).

Hi Morna, we sure have! just start typing ‘daylily’ in the ‘common name’ search field and you should see it right away!
